Rising Damp Ipswich assesses and treats damp in Blackstone, and the wall is metered before we quote.
Blackstone is old mining Ipswich, with housing and a few substantial masonry buildings dating to the coal years. Ground conditions can be the local complication: where a block sits on worked or made ground, that ground can settle unevenly and hold water in pockets, which can produce damp on one wall of a house and nothing on the other three.
Nineteenth century masonry alongside workers' cottages and later infill. The older masonry is solid-wall construction and may predate any reliable damp course. Where these buildings have been repointed in cement rather than lime, the mortar is now harder than the brick, and the moisture that used to leave through the joints leaves through the face of the brick instead.
Where a block is on disturbed or made ground, a damp assessment has to be read alongside any evidence of movement. The two are separate problems that look alike from inside. A wall that is cracked and wet may be cracked because the ground moved and wet because the crack let water in, and treating the damp alone will not hold.

Blackstone has the highest centre reading on this site, 79 m, and the Bremer River is 3.5 km away, the farthest river reading of any suburb here. So river flooding is not the first question in Blackstone; water held in disturbed ground is. Damp on one wall only is the pattern in the detail above, and the assessment checks each wall on site.
